Summer School 2021, International Students

Lehigh offers courses over two summer terms: Summer Term I is May 25, 2021 - July 1, 2021 and Summer Term II is July 6, 2021 - August 12, 2021. Most courses will be offered online, with limited in-person options.

International students who will be sophomores in Fall 2021 have an option to come to Lehigh for summer school and participate in special programming to learn about the university and the community.

Lehigh is permitting rising sophomores to live on-campus while enrolled in summer school courses during Summer Term II (July 6-August 12). As a requirement of their visa, international students must take at least one academic credit in person to maintain their visa status. To meet this requirement, we are offering ESLP 4: Advanced Academic Speaking.

Summer school courses and registration

Summer registration opens on April 19, at the same time as the fall registration period. Current Lehigh students will register for summer using Banner, the same way they register for other semesters. Students should discuss their summer course plans with their advisor and obtain your alternate PIN for summer registration. Learn more about registering for summer courses, course options, tuition and more >

Students who wish to come to Lehigh this summer must be enrolled full time, as a condition of their visa. This means students must register for at least 6 credits (including ESLP 4) to be considered full time enrollment for the summer.

ESLP 4: Advanced Academic Speaking

ESLP 4: Advanced Academic Speaking is a one-credit on-campus course that takes language learning out of the classroom and into the campus community with hands-on experiences, campus interaction, and self-reflection. Students in ESLP will work on speaking and pronunciation skills while learning more about Lehigh’s community and culture. All international sophomores who want to live on campus over the summer and take courses must enroll in ESLP 4. In addition to meeting immigration requirements, the course is a great way to learn more about our community and meet other students before the start of the fall semester.

In addition to the course assignments, international students who come to Bethlehem this summer will enjoy special activities in and around the Lehigh Valley. Some of the activities may include group dinners, a trip to a baseball game, Musikfest, exploring the great outdoors or a trip to Amish country.

Housing

During this summer program, all students will be housed in the new residence halls, Singleton, Hitch, and Maida. You are responsible for the cost of housing.
