Getting to Campus
Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)
- You should download the app on your phone and add a payment method before you arrive in the U.S.
- This will likely be your most expensive option to get to campus
- Rideshares are readily available at all hours from airports
- All new international students who are beginning in August will receive a voucher from OISS via e-mail at the end of July
Trans-Bridge Lines
- Bus service between the Lehigh area and New York City
- Most convenient and affordable from Newark Liberty International Airport -> Bethlehem Transportation Center.
- There is a location in New York City (PABT), but would require a taxi/rideshare/AirTrain/Subway from the airport to the bus stop first.
- Reservations must be made and paid for in advance, so do not wait until you arrive in the U.S. if you plan to use this service.
Tips for Arrival
- You will be able to connect to Wi-Fi in the airport, but have a plan for mobile phone data when there is no Wi-Fi. Visit CampusSims if you'd like to set this up before you arrive.
- Make sure you have a phone charger (and Type A plug adapter!) with you at all times.
- Bring food/snacks from home with you, or purchase some in the airport terminal when you land. You may not realize how hungry you are when you arrive on campus! Especially if you arrive at night, there may not be many food options until the next day.
- Bethlehem will be HOT (85F/30C averages) when you arrive in August, and COLD (35F/2C averages) when you arrive in January so prepare accordingly with what you're wearing and packing.
