The Iacocca Institute hosted 25 of Africa’s brightest emerging business and community leaders in 2024, providing leadership training, networking, professional development opportunities, and exciting events and site visits.
Lehigh University and the Iacocca Institue have hosted the Mandela Washington Fellows nearly every year since 2017. The 25 who participated in this year's program are among 700 Fellows nationwide, aged 25 to 35, hailing from different African nations and experiences. The Fellowship program seeks to help shape their future business perspectives, trajectories, and worldviews.
The intensive six-week program at Lehigh this year included visits to New York City and Philadelphia, a celebration of Nelson Mandela’s legacy, a team-building exercise with a NASCAR vehicle, tours of Lehigh Valley locations, keynote remarks from a senior health official, and a gathering with Mandela Washington Fellows from other universities.
