International Education Week (IEW) is nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, but at Global Lehigh, we take it to the next level. Open to faculty, students, and staff - join us for a week of enriching events to celebrate the ongoing importance and impact of international education and exchange worldwide.
MOnday
Paint and Decorate your Lehigh Presence with the Iacocca Institute
10:00 am - 1:00 pm in RBC AtriumAttendees will decorate their own Alebrijes (small figurines from Mexican culture) with paint and decorations according to their history and experience at Lehigh. Participants will be able to take their paintings as well as souvenirs from Guatemala home with them. Iacocca Institute staff members from Mexico, Guatemala, Liberia, and Botswana will also share their food and traditions.
Annual Flag Parade
4:30 - 5:15 pm beginning at Coxe HallRepresent your country! Sign up to carry the flag for a country that holds meaning for you (where you were born, where you studied abroad, where you have family, where you're traveled to, etc.) Anyone from the Lehigh community is welcome. The parade will depart Coxe Hall, walk through campus, and end at the UC Flag pole, led by members of the Marching '97 band. Please register by November 11.
IEW Kick-Off Celebration
5:30 - 7:00 pm at the Global Union in Coxe Hall (215)Join the international clubs and organizations of Lehigh to learn about the diverse cultures represented on campus. Clubs are invited to host a table to display food, art, info, or games that represent their country or culture. Come for prizes, food, performances, and other giveaways! Please register by November 11.

Keynote speaker karin fischer: Globalization's Impact on Education: Insights from a Leading Journalist
4:00 - 5:00 pm in Linderman 200Karin Fischer, senior writer with The Chronicle of Higher Education and one of the most prominent international education reporters in the nation, will deliver the International Education Week keynote address. She will discuss the impact of globalization on higher education and how global politics are shaping higher education. Described as "one of the most astute observers of international higher education," Karin has written for the Chronicle for 20 years and writes about international education, including American colleges’ activities overseas, the globalization of the college experience, study abroad, and more.

4:00 - 5:00 pm in Christmas Saucon B001This session allows students to ask their Study Abroad questions while hearing from professionals about how Study Abroad operates at Lehigh. There will also be a demonstration of the program finder tool.

Kites Around the World
6:30 - 8:00 pm in Building C, Classroom 210 & Lounge AreaThis is your chance to relive childhood memories and make new ones with friends! Learn about the history of kite making and its cultural significance around the world, and express your own heritage through kite making and decorating. Kite materials and international snacks will be provided! This event is co-sponsored by the College of Education.

VIE Community of Practice Luncheon
12:00 - 1:00 pm in FML 520Lehigh's Virtual International Exchange Community of Practice invites you to join us to learn about our partnership with Forman Christian College University located in Lahore, Pakistan. VIE exchanges enhance student learning and collaboration. The initiative for our second year of partnering with FCCU incorporates the use of artificial intelligence to foster student engagement and collaboration. These interactions not only enrich the students' educational experience but also help them develop valuable intercultural skills. 5:00 - 7:00 pm in HST 101This Fall, LUKA is hosting our annual Breakfast For Dinner (B4D) and this event is open to everyone in the Lehigh community and has no entrance fee! B4D is an opportunity for people to explore and try Filipino breakfast and many other cuisines from around the world! We hope to share our cuisine with everyone at Lehigh and foster unity.
