The Lehigh University/United Nations Partnership has opportunities for students in any academic discipline. Through LU/UN programs, students can learn beyond the classroom while earning academic credit. Opportunities include Youth Representative positions, LU/UN Partnership internships, UN internships, and serving on the Greening the UN Missions team.
Recently, I attended the SDG Moment Conference during the UN General Assembly, where I was able to listen to discussions between world leaders, diplomats, and other global representatives on major international challenges and possible solutions. I also met Amandeep Singh Gill, a UN Under-Secretary-General.

The most impactful project I have worked on with the Widows Development Organization was the UN Parallel Event we organized during the Commission on the Status of Women. The event provided an opportunity to explore the connection between child marriage, the experiences of young girls, and the vulnerabilities many may face later in life as widows.

Lehigh Youth Representatives serve non-governmental organizations (NGOs) at the United Nations. This number grows each year as more organizations are selected to join the program. What is the Greening of the UN Missions Program?
The United Nations Environment Programme Assistant-Seretary General chose Lehigh to lead Greening the UN Missions, a voluntary program that helps New York-based Missions integrate sustainable practices into the workplace. So far, the student team has evaluated and certified Missions including Canada, the Delegation of the European Union, the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland, among others.
