Global Village

TU Dortmund students have participated in the Global Village, an intensive, immersive program of Lehigh’s Iacocca Institute, which teaches university students and young professionals from throughout the world entrepreneurship and leadership skills while preparing them to thrive in a global community. In turn, Lehigh has sent students to TU Dortmund's International Summer Program through IIIP he Global Staff Fellows Program, a virtual staff professional development program was jointly developed by both institutions in the Fall of 2020 and implemented in January and February of 2021.

Lehigh@NasdaqCenter

Dortmund and Lehigh have enjoyed several collaborations through Lehigh@NasdaqCenter, an academic-industry partnership between Lehigh University and the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center. Dortmund students have participated in Lehigh@NasdaqCenter’s Global Entrepreneurship Fellowship program, which immerses students in project-based internships with early to mid-stage startups addressing global challenges.

te week

Each year, Lehigh graduate students pursuing an M.Eng. or Graduate Certificate in Technical Entrepreneurship (TE) participate in TE Week, a week-long academic immersion for graduate students studying entrepreneurship. In 2024, they were joined for the first time by a select number of students from TU Dortmund, who enjoyed hands-on learning experiences alongside Lehigh graduate students. The participating Dortmund students were competitively selected from the university’s DLab, a digital initiative that offers an interdisciplinary certificate in Digital Technology Management.

Entrepreneurship Symposium

Lehigh and TU Dortmund took their collaborations to the next level in 2023, when they held discussions about how they can leverage their long standing relationship to positively impact innovation and entrepreneurship in both the Lehigh Valley and the Ruhr area. A delegation from TU Dortmund visited Lehigh for a symposium called “Empowering Regional Impact Through Entrepreneurship: The Role for Universities.” After the symposium, representatives from both institutions participated in intensive roundtable discussions to identify shared challenges in both their communities, establishing short- and long-term goals for continued collaboration into the future.
