The Partnerships Activity Report details a year of collaboration and key initiatives between Lehigh University and educational institutions around the world
A newly released report by Lehigh University’s Office of International Affairs (OIA) highlights the past year’s activity with its many global partnerships involving educational institutions and organizations worldwide.
The 2023-2024 Partnerships Activity Report showcases the work of OIA’s Global Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives, the central point of contact and coordination at OIA for international activities undertaken by Lehigh’s colleges and units, and for external institutions that want to engage with Lehigh University.
“Our global partnerships allow us to foster dynamic collaborations that not only advance educational goals, but also create opportunities for impactful research, cultural exchange, and global engagement,” said Stacy Burger, Director of Global Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives.
The Partnerships Activity Report can be downloaded here.
It includes a map highlighting all 38 global partner institutions with which Lehigh has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOUs). The report also provides narratives about key initiatives and activities between Lehigh and these partners.
Highlighted institutions include the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) in Ecuador, Technische Universität (TU) Dortmund in Germany, SRM Institute of Science & Technology in India, Forman Christian College in Pakistan, and more.
Additionally, the report features faculty and staff contributions to Lehigh’s global partnerships and strategic initiatives, such as:
- Anand Ramamurthi, Chair of the Department of Bioengineering at Lehigh’s P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science, who played a pivotal role in helping develop Lehigh global partnerships with higher education institutions in India
- Jodeen Joyner, Senior Study Abroad Advisor at OIA, who also works as Exchange Program Manager for the OIA’s revitalized bilateral exchange program, Global Exchange Lehigh (GEL)
- Michael Lehman, Director, M.Eng. in Technical Entrepreneurship at Lehigh, who provided instruction to visiting TU Dortmund students during Technical Entrepreneurship (TE) Week at Lehigh in October 2023
The work of Global Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives is consistent with OIA’s strategic initiatives. They call for expanding resources that advance the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge, and expanding and deepening international partnerships to advance innovations in teaching and research.
The report also highlights Lehigh President Joseph J. Helble’s ‘82 visit to Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala, and Panama last year, continuing Lehigh’s long history of engagement and collaboration with Latin American nations. During his visit to Ecuador, Helble delivered a speech on Nov. 30 at USFQ as part of the institution’s prestigious Chancellor’s Lecture Series.
Another key highlight is the symposium co-hosted by Lehigh and TU Dortmund in October 2023, titled “Empowering Regional Impact Through Entrepreneurship: The Role for Universities.” It marked a continuation of the active and highly successful global partnership between those two institutions over the last 25 years.
Lehigh’s Global Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives team advises on all stages of partnership development, including identifying funding opportunities; developing custom programs; hosting in-bound exchange students, visitors and delegations; and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
