Lehigh is home to 70 international students from India as of spring 2024, representing 7.4% of the university’s international student population. A total of 90 undergraduates and more than 220 graduate students from India have been admitted to Lehigh over the past four years.
Nationwide, there are 268,923 Indian international students in the United States as of 2022-23, a 35% increase from the previous year, according to IIE Open Doors Report. The number of Indian students enrolling in American universities could increase by 15-20% by 2026, according to the Hindustan Times, and is set to surge five times over 1 million per year by 2030.

Life on Campus
India Club
The India Club at Lehigh University is a non-profit organization formed primarily by graduate students of Indian origin, whose purpose is to cherish the rich and vibrant culture of India.
South Asian Students Association
SASA promotes awareness of South Asian culture and its rich heritage at Lehigh. The club teaches also teaches the Indian dance Garba to celebrate the holiday of Navaratri.
Asian Cultural Society
This club recognizes and celebrates all Asian and Asian-American cultures through events like Fusion, Holi, dumpling-making night, Lunar New Year celebration, bubble tea fundraisers, and more.
Lehigh/United Nations Partnership
This partnership provides opportunities for Lehigh students to engage with the United Nations in meaningful ways, including by working with Indian non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Leela Indian Fusion Dance
Leela mixes choreography and music from both Western and Eastern cultures to produce a range of styles and performances, including Bollywood, Bhangra, Classical, Raas, Garba, and more.
LU Bhangra
This dance group teaches Bhangra, a high-energy Indian folk style of dance originating from the state of Punjab that has become quite popular throughout the globe.
