Lehigh University and the International Labour Organization have partnered to present a discussion of the future of work, as part of the ILO's 100th anniversary celebration.

This one-day conference on "An Equitable and Sustainable Future of Work" features addresses by dignitaries including United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development and Chief Economist, Elliott Harris, and Executive Director of the ILO for North America, Kevin Cassidy. The conference will also present a series of panels focusing on “Effective Lifelong Learning Systems,” “Transformative Agenda for Equality,” and “Improving Global Value Chains for Decent Work.”

The Bazaar is one of the largest international events at Lehigh that gives students and campus clubs the opportunity to showcase the diversity on campus.

Announcing New International Services and Insurance Program:

This program is administered by International SOS (ISOS), which has been providing the Lehigh community with medical, security and travel services since 2009. The new benefits include coverage of sickness and accident medical expenses up to $10,000, as well as emergency dental coverage, medical evacuation and more. ISOS can help you find doctors who speak English, coordinate your care, and arrange payment so that you avoid out of pocket costs. You can learn more about the program and review the full summary of benefits in the Lehigh ISOS portal at go.lehigh.edu/isos. The Lehigh University Student International Services and Insurance Program remains unchanged.

All faculty and staff traveling on Lehigh related business are automatically covered by this policy effective immediately. If you are planning an international trip, please visit the ISOS portal before you leave to register your travel plans. Although registration is not required, this will help facilitate communications and access to the appropriate assistance and insurance coverage in the event of an emergency. In the ISOS portal, you can also sign up for medical or security alerts, create your emergency record to make it easy to access your health information anywhere, and print an ISOS membership card with contact information. Personal travel befo re or after the official activity is not covered. Individuals may purchase an individual personal plan and more details are available on the Lehigh ISOS portal at go.lehigh.edu/isos.

Mahdawi ’22, who was born and raised in a refugee camp in Palestine, will be sharing his discovery of peace through various points in his journey witnessing the human capacity to cause each other harm, and the human capacity for empathy and understanding.

Want to study abroad in Italy this summer? Then attend this info session to hear more about the faculty-led study abroad program, Lehigh in Italy, led by Professor Viscardi. This program offers the opportunity to earn 6 credits (The Architecture of Carlo Scarpa- HU and Architectural Drawing- HU) during 4 weeks of study in "The Veneto" region of Italy. The program will explore the regional characteristics of The Veneto cities of Padua, Venice, Vicenza, and Verona with an architectural focus on the work of the 20th century Venetian architect, Carlo Scarpa.

Visiting scholars are welcome to join us for light refreshments and the chance to meet other scholars who are here at Lehigh. You are also welcome to invite your faculty host if you like.

A modest travel grant is available to doctoral students who need financial assistance to travel abroad for work related to their research.



Awards of up to $1500 are made on a competitive basis and may be used to fund travel abroad for attending a conference to make a presentation or conducting research or scholarly work.

Do you want to study abroad in Paris this summer? Then come to this info session where Professor John Savage will discuss the faculty led Lehigh in Paris program. Lehigh in Paris is an exciting summer study abroad program devoted to discovering the history and culture of the city of Paris. During the month of July, students live together in Paris and participate in excursions and outings four days per week. Classes take place around the city as students discover famous monuments, museums and neighborhoods while studying their origins and significance. The program offers six Lehigh Humanities credits, though students can opt to take up to eight credits if they wish. The program is open to all students, regardless of major. No French language or European history background is required.

Interested in studying abroad and engaging in an internship this summer? Then attend this information session to learn more about the Lehigh in Shanghai study abroad program led by Professor Yao. This program focuses on learning about Chinese culture and business protocol in a Chinese company. Students have the opportunity to take 6 credits, 3 of which consist of an internship experience. While at internship placements, students will be working in various types of environments in Shanghai, including multinationals, joint ventures, state-owned companies, foreign-owned companies, hospitals, NGOs, schools, or government offices.

Still looking for something to do this summer? Consider volunteering abroad in Antigua! Attend this information session to learn more about ServeAbroad Antigua, a 9 day service trip to the beautiful islands of Antigua and Barbuda. Past service projects include painting schools, assisting teachers in a school for disabled children, and working on a Rotary community project. Students will also have the opportunity to explore the islands! (Note: ServeAbroad Antigua is non-credit bearing.)

Interested in research and studying abroad? Then come to an info session to learn more about the Lehigh in Ireland Summer Study Abroad program! During this program, students travel to The National University of Ireland, Galway for a 6 week summer experience. Students have the opportunity to complete research practicum for 3 credits and to take an Irish Studies course for 3 credits. There are a variety of research practicum topics including, engineering, biology, CSB, design, and social sciences.

Interested in research and studying abroad? Then come to an info session to learn more about the Lehigh in Ireland Summer Study Abroad program! During this program, students travel to The National University of Ireland, Galway for a 6 week summer experience. Interested in studying abroad in Scotland? Then attend this information session to learn more about the faculty led program, Lehigh in Scotland! During this program, students will meet in Edinburgh, Scotland for a week, touring Viking sites and museums in the city, before venturing out to the Hebrides Islands off the western coast of Scotland. In addition, Professor Wesson has been working with some professors and students from the University of Cardiff in Wales on past projects and will be joining up with that professor and those students to help on this summer's dig!

Then come to this event, where past Lehigh students who studied at TAU will be there to share their experience. This will be a great opportunity to ask questions about the program and to learn what it was like studying abroad in Israel. There will also be Israeli food!
