Undergraduate coaching course (4 credits)

COACHING TOWARDS JOY, MEANING AND SOCIAL GOOD

This course is about orienting one’s life from a place of joy and openness. It is also about finding ways to sustain ourselves so that we can do our good work in the world and bring our best selves to our interactions with others.

You will learn and practice professional coaching techniques as one way to create meaning, increase your well-being and move towards what you want to achieve and who you want to be. By doing so, you will also acquire a key professional and leadership skill as coaching is increasingly being used in business, healthcare, creative and other fields.

You’ll also learn an essential global citizenship skill as one question of primary concern to global citizenship practice is: How do we best hear, support and accompany one another across our vast differences? All of this moves us towards thinking about our interconnected and integrated well-being.

The course is well-suited for students interested in peer advising, social activism, mentoring and leadership in any area, as well as those simply seeking inspiration in community to support both themselves and others.

This is a full-semester course. It is organized by quarters to split our work into a level I and a level II. We move from the basics to more nuance over the term.
