Population Health Colloquium | College of Health

The College of Health in collaboration with Lehigh's United Nations Partnership is pleased to continue our colloquium series. We invite you to join us as Dr. Nata Menabde, Executive Director, World Health Organization Office at the United Nations, New York presents "A Global Perspective: Advancing Health Outcomes Around the World."

Moderated by Beth Dolan, Interim Dean of the College of Health, the colloquium will include special guest responder, Dr. Eleanor Nwadinobi, President, Medical Women’s International Association.

This event is free and open to the greater Lehigh community. Registration is required.

Pronunciation Brush Up for ITAs Workshop | International Center for Academic and Professional English

Pronunciation generally takes a long time to change; however, there are specific strategies that can help make your speech more comprehensible. The workshop will focus on some of the most common pronunciation challenges faced by multilingual speakers, such as syllable stress, sentence stress, and intonation. Attendees will be provided with practical strategies for classroom communication and materials for ongoing practice. *This workshop is designed for current or prospective international teaching assistants who want to improve their English pronunciation.


Classroom Communication for ITAs Workshop | International Center for Academic and Professional English

Have you experienced communication difficulties in the classroom? This workshop will discuss communication challenges in order to help the international teaching assistants identify language difficulties and improve communication in the classroom. Participants will learn strategies for sharing information, responding to questions, and understanding and modifying language for the situation. *This workshop is designed for current or prospective international teaching assistants who want to improve their classroom communication.


Lehigh Lingo Workshop | International Center for Academic and Professional English

This workshop focuses on English outside the classroom, especially as it relates to U.S. culture. Participants will discuss language usage in daily life and have opportunities to share their experience. What does someone mean when they say “Catch the Packer Express or the LANTA”? How do you respond when asked, “What’s up?” Join ICAPE’s language specialists in exploring common English phrases and idioms as well as some of the language of Lehigh.

TOPSS Workshop | International Center for Academic and Professional English

This workshop will prepare graduate students who are ITA candidates for the TOPSS exam. Learn about the background of the TOPSS exam and resources available. Participants will also learn how to make a clear announcement,how to transition smoothly to Part II of the TOPSS, and how to make a successful presentation in an academic setting, including preparation, organization, audience interaction, non-verbal communication, visuals and clear speech.
