Submit a Proposal for International Week

Saturday, October 15, 2016 - 9:00pm

International Week will be held November 5-12. We welcome all internationally focused educational, cultural and social presentations/programs, held at either 12 p.m.4 p.m. or after 7 p.m. each day during the week. 

Deadline to submit your event proposals:  Friday, Oct 14th. ---- So get your program/event proposals in as soon as possible!

Resources and the submission form are here. The Global Union Executive Board will review your request, so please make sure to submit a complete form with the below mentioned required information.

Information required: Name of program, date, proposed location, time, and sponsor (s). If you need financial support for the program, please include a $ amount request and your club or department account number also. Keep in mind that co-sponsoring is the best way to make an event successful. No need to do it all on your own.

  • Collaborate with our Executive and Representative boards to plan and execute innovative culturally and internationally-focused events
  • Leverage social media and other tools to promote the Global Union and other member clubs
  • Become a student leader in one of the largest organizations on campus!
  • Advocate for a more inclusive, more global Lehigh

Please note: At this time, we will be accepting no more than 12 ambassadors, and the cohort will be announced at the beginning of October.

Intern with the Global Union - Fall ‘16 or Spring '17! 
Be involved in all aspects of planning, logistics and hosting large-scale events (International Week celebration - Fall), in addition to dozens of other high-profile events on campus. Research international topics, design your own programs, and coordinate our cultural events.

Qualifications: Undergraduate; 3.0+ GPA, significant program planning and marketing experience required.

5-8 hours per week, typically 3 credits, volunteer -- great experience but no pay

Join the Global Union Executive Board 2016-2017

The Global Union, one of Lehigh’s largest and most active student organizations, is currently accepting nominations for President, Vice President, Secretary, and 4 VP Executive Board positions for the 2016 – 2017 Academic Year!

DEADLINE:  TODAY (April 12th)!!

President  -- Serve on the University-created Council of Student Presidents and related entities, represent the Global Union to the Lehigh community, be responsible for the Global Union affairs, preside over all Executive Board meetings, manage GU visibility with the Vice President, and work closely with the GU Director in all matters concerning the GU.

Vice President - Responsible for assisting the President with all aspects of the GU organization, including leading meetings in the President’s absence. Act as the point person for International Week and as a liaison with the Campus Event Advisory Group for GU events and member clubs.

Secretary– Recorder of official minutes of all Executive Board and GU Rep. Board meetings, and maintainer of all membership rosters and records.  Responsible for obtaining and updating accurate contact information for all member clubs, including attendance at Representative Board meetings.

*Anyone running for the above positions must be a current GU representative, E-board member or have had significant interaction with the Global Union members, programs, etc.

Vice President for Graduate Student Outreach –  Is responsible for recruitment of graduate clubs and the maintenance of relationships with current graduate club member organizations.

Vice President for Club Relations – Is responsible for new club recruitment, communicating with member clubs, assisting club development, and running Representative Board meetings.

Vice President for Member Programming – Is responsible for creating collaborative programming that brings GU clubs together to develop larger scale events and enhance club participation in the GU. Co-manages the GU training programs.

Vice President for Internal Programming - Is responsible for managing the GU Ambassador program and planning events primarily created by the Global Union E-Board; executing the traditional GU events as well as developing new programming.

**The VP positions above are open to all LU students.

All of the above positions will be elected by the current GU Representatives and Executive Board members during a meeting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19.  If you wish to be considered for a position, you must submit a written notification of your candidacy to the GU GA Angel ( by Tuesday, April 12.  All candidates must submit a position statement of no more than 150 words (300 words for President) with their written notification of candidacy.
