J-1 Scholars

Overview

The J-1 Exchange Visitor Program was created to implement the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961. Its purpose is to enhance the understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries by means of educational and cultural exchanges. Most of the visiting scholars brought to Lehigh are on the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program in various categories. Lehigh University is authorized to host visiting scholars in the category of Short-Term Scholar, Research Scholar, Professor, and Specialist.  Each category has its specific purposes and limitations.
