Gary Sasso will be stepping in as interim Vice President and Associate Provost for the Office of International Affairs effective October 1, 2015. During this interim period, Sasso will also continue to serve in his current capacity as dean of the College of Education.
Mohamed S. El-Aasser led the OIA from its formation in 2009 until September 2015, when he returned to the faculty of chemical engineering. Under his tenure, Lehigh positioned itself to become a major player in the international education scene.
We have established institutional partnerships at 16 universities around the world; nearly tripled the number of international undergraduate students and doubled international graduate students; expanded study abroad opportunities, including fully funded international internships; made Lehigh a more welcoming, inclusive home for international students and scholars; and launched the Faculty Grants for International Connections to fund faculty research abroad.
Lehigh’s commitment to becoming an international university remains strong and the search for a new vice president and vice provost for international affairs is in the final stage.
